Scoil Lorcáin BNS

With the opening of a new housing estate in 1953 called St. John’s Park, it was inevitable a new primary school would be needed for the boys in the area.The Bishop of Waterford and Lismore asked the Christian Brothers to set up this new school.  Work began in March 1959, the school was named after St. Laurence and was christened Scoil Lorcáin.

Vision Statement

Scoil Lorcáin is dedicated to the educational and social development of the child as a whole and unique person.

The school will seek to promote the intellectual, physical, social, personal, spiritual, moral and aesthetic development of all our pupils.

These aims will be achieved by means of good discipline, a strong work ethic, a caring and respectful approach and positive home links in the spirit of our Christian faith.

We, at Champion School, follow a child-centered educational approach. We make sure that it is based on scientific observations from birth to adulthood. We believe that a child is naturally curious and is capable of initiating learning in a supportive and thoughtfully prepared environment.
