Letter from Mr Flynn

Dear Parents / Guardians

Hope you are all keeping well.  We are busy planning for the re-opening of school on Friday 28th August.

We cannot wait to see all of the boys back at school.  To keep us safe, some things will be a little different when school re-opens.

Our main aim is to keep the risk of infection from coming into the school.

The following points are very important.

  • While all children will be welcome back to school, we would remind parents that, where children are displaying colds, coughs or flu like symptoms, they should not be sent to school. Children who display such symptoms in school will be isolated and parents asked to collect them from school.
  • If any member of your household has travelled abroad recently, please make sure that your son has isolated for 14 days before returning to school.
  • Pupils will independently enter and exit the school via a designated gate and must use this gate at all times.
  • We will have to start with staggered drop off and collection times as follows:

Starting Time

8.50 – 9.00am

Senior Infants      –         Entrance through main gate

2nd Class              –         Entrance by side gate near flagpoles

  • Brothers may arrive and depart together at the earliest times i.e. 8.50am and 2.10pm.
  • Please make sure that your son has washed his hands before leaving for school.
  • Pupils are asked NOT to bring their own sanitisers to school as hand washing facilities will be available in the school.
  • In line with Public Health Advice, the use of face coverings / masks by pupils in primary school should not occur.

Physical Distancing

Children from Junior Infants to 2nd Class are not required to physical distance.  Children from 3rd to 6th Class are expected to keep a distance of 1m where possible.

Staff will try to maintain physical distance from children when they can and will wear face coverings and other PPE when needed.

We are conscious of the fact that our pupils have not been in school since March and that they are looking forward to coming back to school to meet their friends again.  We are aware that our pupils are beginning a school year at a challenging time and we are planning to ensure that their return will be as free from stress as possible,

With that in mind, boys will not be getting homework for the time being.

Your son’s teacher will collect his textbooks, copies etc. on the first day.

Healthy Lunches

Healthy Lunches will start on Monday 31st August.

Please provide your son with a healthy lunch / snack on Friday 28th August.

Lunch Orders – Any students that were in the school for 2019-2020 school year, the lunch order will continue as the last order placed on the Freshtoday system.  Any new student will receive a default lunch order that they can change on receipt of login details when back in class.

Login information – Each student will receive an updated information sheet with their current lunch order, username, password and contact information for Freshtoday.

Boys are asked to bring in their own drinks bottle, clearly labelled.  Bottles are to be taken home everyday and washed.

Reminder:

School office will be open on Thursday, August 27th, from 9.00-2.00pm to pay for copies and materials.

Please observe social distancing and wear face coverings when you enter the school.

Entrance to the office will be through the side gate near the flagpoles. Exit will be through the main gate.

Please note that some or all of the above is subject to change in line with updated public health guidelines.

Yours sincerely

Harry Flynn
