We had a very successful breakfast morning on Friday the 20th of October in Room 13. The boys raised €42 for Childline and enjoyed lots of yummy breakfast treats! A huge thank you to all who donated and contributed delicious snacks on the day, well done everybody!

        Ms Hill’s 5th Class

Hello everyone! Welcome to Ms Hill’s fifth class! We had a great start back in September and are now looking forward to our midterm break after lots of hard work!

Here are some fun events we are currently involved in.

Firstly we have a new game at the school called IZAK 9. This game helps all of us to learn maths in a fun way. We go onto a website which will ask us maths questions. With the IZAK 9 we try to solve those questions in small groups together by problem solving.

Secondly, we have new IPADS at the school!

We are very lucky to be the first class to try them out for a year! These IPADS help us research, play educational games and write reports on certain things as part of First Steps for Literacy.

The next fun activity we are doing is swimming! We go swimming every Thursday. We are split into different groups and learn new skills each week.

We have also participated in Cooking for Fun with Ms Cusack, Ms. Hill, Theresa and some of our parents. We made delicious snacks such as bakewell jam tarts, rocky road, savoury muffins and banana bread.

One of our favourite activities that we are involved with at the moment is BEAT THE STREET! We are all trying our very best to get the number one spot on the beat the street leaderboard by walking to each scanner we see and gaining more points for our school.

We are also working on reports and projects to improve our grammar and spelling mistakes. We do three drafts on paper and our fourth draft is on the IPADS!

Next week we will be hosting a breakfast morning to donate money to ChildLine. ChildLine is a free twenty four hour counselling service for children and young people up to nineteen.

Our school is highly interested in sport so that is why we now have an Active Committee. With this active committee, we try to get an active flag! Something the whole school will be proud of!

Our class loves art!!! We are very good at art.

On Friday, we have created art pieces such as Minecraft self portraits, abstract paintings and grid art drawings.

Lastly we have been learning about data and bar graphs. We created bar graphs on the IPADS  and asked questions to the class!

We hope you enjoyed reading this blog!
